..never, ever should one wear a short sleeved shirt with a tie, a bow tie is almost acceptable if you happen to bea stockbroker or some such city gent, but even then it is only allowable as these people aren’t epected to know any better, the only occaisions when the aforementioned is acceptable is when you are wearing a waistcoat or if  you are Andre 3000 or a cute/stern asian waitresse..
